Children’s Dentistry
It is important that a child's first dental visit be positive so that they are happy and willing to attend regularly. Early preventative care is essential so that the need for treatment is minimised as prevention is far better than cure. We suggest that parents bring along their child to one of their regular check-ups so that the child can become familiar with the new sights, sounds and smells.
During the child's own check-up, we will examine their teeth and gums. We will teach both the child and their parent about the importance of good oral hygiene, show them how to clean their teeth and how to use plaque-disclosing tablets. We will discuss diet and its role in tooth decay and we will advise on fissure sealants.placement and orthodontic referrals when appropriate.
